Now we're getting into some better weather it's time to ramp up the mountain bike competitions around the world. Ahead of their first event of the year, the FMBA have released the full calendar for the year.

The first event being the Highline Mountain Bike Festival in Australia. This is going to be a silver event hosted on the 26th March. Crankworx Innsbruck will be the first diamond event this year but we won't be able to enjoy this until June.

For Matthew Temitope and his friends, 2012 was a life-changing year. The young Nigerian had been browsing a second-hand store in Lagos when, among the used clothing and bric-a-brac, he spied treasure: a handful of vintage BMX bikes. He knew he wanted one, even though he didn't know exactly what he was buying; a swift Google search would soon open his eyes wide.


Every year for the past 8 years VitalBMX have reached out to a segment of their audience. The aim is to pick their brains about their current BMX preferences, favourite parts, riders and more.

Over 2,500 riders participated in the study and it has resulted in some really interesting results. Check out the link below to see the figures.

At the end of last year Vans release a 3 part BMX series called Live Fast. Corey Walsh, Trey Jones, Jason Watts, Dennis Enarson and Gary Young were representing Vans in the film. Kris Fox and Matt Cordova from Fast and Loose BMX also made appearances.

Created in partnership with renowned filmer and editor Chris Gregson, Live Fast captures the free spirit of the tight-knit crew in this latest compilation as they search out the best bowls, backyard pools and rideable terrain while visiting legendary spots like Ohio’s Skatopia. In part one, the crew hits hallowed ground in Ohio, which marks a first for BMX riding.
